Lee has tried cases to juries in federal and state courts, including recently serving as lead trial counsel in a successful two-week federal jury trial, and has been lead counsel in arbitrations. He has appeared in many appellate matters, arguing appeals in several federal courts of appeal, and twice serving as counsel of record before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Lee has drafted and argued numerous dispositive motions, including a successful motion to dismiss in a multimillion dollar oil and gas dispute regarding ownership of Marcellus Shale leases, and motions for summary judgment on constitutional claims in an $8 billion public nuisance lawsuit. Lee also has successfully represented the University of Notre Dame regarding alleged Establishment Clause violations in replicating its ACE program and advised the university's investigation following a fatal videography lift collapse during football practice. Lee currently represents UPMC in Highmark's Lanham Act litigation involving the expiration of the parties' contracts.

Lee is vice president of the Pittsburgh Federalist Society and was appointed by Senator Arlen Specter to serve on the 2007 Federal Judicial Nominating Panel for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh Law School, teaching a class on the First Amendment.
