Julie McEvoy has successfully represented corporate and individual clients in a broad range of civil and criminal litigation matters involving antitrust, corporate control, and fiduciary liability issues. She has substantial experience in all phases of complex civil and criminal cases, from prelitigation counseling and investigation through discovery, trial, and appeal.

Julie recently counseled pharmaceutical companies in cases alleging misuse of intellectual property rights or regulatory approval processes to extend market exclusivity for brand name drugs. She successfully defended sanofi-aventis U.S. against a claim that the company suppressed generic competition for its rheumatoid arthritis drug Arava® by filing an allegedly baseless "citizen petition" with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. After a six-day trial, a jury in the Southern District of New York returned a verdict in favor of sanofi-aventis U.S.

Julie also has extensive experience conducting internal investigations, coordinating individual and company responses to government inquiries, negotiating appropriate resolutions with government authorities, and defending individuals and companies in the civil litigation that frequently follows. For example, she acted as national coordinating counsel for 20 defendants in more than 100 state court cases brought against vitamin manufacturers following international investigations of cartel activity in the industry. Julie argued complex jurisdictional, procedural, and remedial matters on behalf of those defendants in trial and appellate courts around the country.

Julie maintains an active pro bono practice and has successfully assisted political and social activists seeking asylum from abusive regimes in African and South Asian countries.
