Over the past decade, John Vogt has defended more than 100 state, federal, and nationwide class actions. As a trial lawyer, he focuses on cybersecurity, big data, and consumer privacy law and devotes his nationwide practice exclusively to class action defense and data breach response.

John's class action experience ranges from large-scale data breaches involving millions of personally identifiable information files, heath care data, and financial information. In addition he has extensive experience involving big data and privacy litigation, the collection and sale of consumer data, claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), recording and wiretap claims under Sections 632 and 632.7 of California's Penal Code, claims under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA) and the Restore Online Shoppers Confidence Act (ROSCA), class claims related to negative option advertising and automatic renewal of online subscription services, product labeling, claims under Section 17200 of California's Business & Professions Code (UCL) and California's Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA), warranty claims under California's Song-Beverly Act and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the design and sale of engineered consumer products, consumer advertising and promotions, and bundled billing.

In addition to his trial and class action experience, John has briefed and argued dozens of appeals before U.S. federal courts and has led trial teams in domestic and international arbitration. He also advises corporations on their cybersecurity and consumer privacy obligations, including overseeing data breach response.
