Fred Sherman is a senior lawyer in the New York Office practicing in the area of corporate and commercial litigation, and he has extensive experience in state and federal court practice at the trial and appellate levels and in domestic and international arbitrations. His experience runs the gamut of commercial civil litigation, including many varieties of contract disputes, construction disputes, securities litigation, civil RICO litigation, and bankruptcy litigation. Many of the litigations and arbitrations in which he has served as counsel have involved foreign clients or other parties, and he is an authority on disputes crossing state lines and implicating legal norms of several jurisdictions.
Among the clients for whom he has acted as litigation counsel in recent years are Morgan Guaranty Trust, Northrop, Westinghouse, NACCO, Mannesmann, Trans World Oil, Gould, and General Tire. He also has acted on behalf of agencies of the governments of the Philippines, Yemen, and Laos.
Fred has written and spoken on international litigation and arbitration and U.S. labor law. He was an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin from 1968 to 1971 and is currently teaching a course on commercial and international arbitration at Brooklyn Law School.
