NPR negotiates new agreement with SAG-AFTRA

Client(s) National Public Radio, Inc.

Jones Day served as chief negotiator for National Public Radio, Inc. (NPR) in its contract renewal negotiations with SAG-AFTRA. In negotiations over three months, Jones Day negotiated a labor contract for NPR that eliminated many of the prior agreement's legacy provisions. The new contract provides NPR with strong management rights and increased operational and work assignment flexibility, while creating an economically sustainable wage and overtime structure. The contract also limits the union's ability to challenge NPR's exercise of its management rights through arbitration or mid-term bargaining.
