Lacoste sold to Maus Frères for €1 billion (US$1.3 billion)

Client(s) Group of family shareholders of Lacoste SA

Jones Day advised a group of Lacoste SA family shareholders in their sale of the remaining share capital of Lacoste SA to Maus Frères SA in a deal which valued the French sportswear and fashion maker at €1 billion (US$1.3 billion), 19 times the EBITDA. The Lacoste family was at war over the control of the Board and then over the decision to sell their shares to the Swiss company Maus Frères SA.

Lacoste is an iconic trademark which was owned, from 1933 to the date of this deal, by heirs of the French tennis champion and founder Renée Lacoste (also known on tennis courts as the "crocodile").
