Maria Pradilla Picas enfoca su práctica en el arbitraje y litigio de disputas comerciales y de inversión complejas, con énfasis particular en América Latina. Ha representado a clientes en tratados de inversión y procedimientos de arbitraje comercial bajo las normas de la UNCITRAL (Comisión de las Naciones Unidas para el Derecho en materia de Comercio Exterior), el ICSID (Centro Internacional de Solución de Controversias Relativas a Inversiones) y la ICC (Cámara Internacional de Comercio).

María actualmente representa a una empresa constructora estadounidense en un arbitraje interancional realizado bajo las Reglas del Centro Internacional para el Arreglo de Diferencias Relativas a Inversores contra la República de Panamá. María tambien participa en dos casos presentados bajo las reglas de arbitraje del CIADI, ante Uzbekistán en virtud del Tratado de la Carta de Energía y el Tratado Bilateral de Inversiones entre Kazajstán y Uzbekistán. Asimismo, María actualmente representa a un inversor canadiense en los procedimientos contra Kazajistán en un arbitraje de la CNUDMI y un inversor estadounidense involucrado en los procedimientos de arbitraje comercial de la CPI contra co-contratista de origen indio.

Antes de incorporarse a Jones Day, María fue co-presidente del International Arbitration Monthde la Universidad de Georgetown, que reúne a los profesionales y estudiantes de arbitraje internacional durante un mes para una serie de seminarios y conferencias. María fue miembro del equipo Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot de Georgetown y continúa participando como árbitro y entrenador asistente voluntario. Ella nació y se crió en Venezuela, siendo su lengua materna el español.
