Jones Day's Michael Gray and David Kiernan named among Forbes' inaugural "America's Top 200 Lawyers"

Jones Day partners Michael Gray and David Kiernan have been named to Forbes' 2024 "America's Top 200 Lawyers" list. The inaugural list recognizes those who are "change agents in the profession, whether through major deals, landmark cases, societal reform or creating precedent and changing lives through public interest work," and the selection committee "curated a diverse and superlative group of attorneys who have demonstrated outsize influence and have achieved an elite level of excellence in private practice, civil rights and organizational work."

Mr. Gray is a leading labor and employment lawyer representing major corporate clients in complex workplace, investigation, and privacy matters. Recent highlights include prevailing as lead trial lawyer in one of the first "me too" cases tried to a jury, taking on more than 200 wage-hour arbitrations and lawsuits in regards to a client's incentive plan and trying and winning all claims in numerous arbitrations, defeating a biometric class action involving order technology, and defeating class certification in California statewide wage-hour and PAGA pay claims. Mr. Gray was honored earlier this year with the 2024 Humanitarian Award by the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center.

Mr. Kiernan is a first chair trial lawyer in significant, high-profile cases throughout the United States, including representing companies across industries in antitrust, public nuisance, and ESG litigation. Recent highlights include securing a complete defense verdict in the largest antitrust class action against a hospital system, winning a trial for a Korean company seeking to protect its intellectual property rights, obtaining a permanent injunction against the California Department of Health from implementing regulations limiting women's access to prenatal care, and winning summary judgment for a petroleum company in two antitrust class actions.

Those named to the Forbes 2024 "America's Top 200 Lawyers" list were selected after a "rigorous, multi-stage process of researching, evaluating and rating thousands of candidates, conducted by an editorial team with broad experience in law practice and the legal marketplace." The list is composed of lawyers from a variety of backgrounds, specializations, and jurisdictions.
