Chris Papanicolaou practices environmental law and general commercial real estate law, with a particular focus on the waste management, industrial, building products, and mineral sectors as well as on contaminated land transactions. Chris also advises on environmental liability and real estate issues in the business restructuring context.
Chris has advised clients on pollution prevention and control permit applications and appeals; waste planning appeals; waste and water resources laws; WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment), RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances), and REACH (registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemical substances) regulations; carbon reduction and climate change; health and safety issues; noise and odour nuisance; and environmental liability insurance. He also handles the structuring of brownfield contaminated land disposals and acquisitions. Chris oversees environmental due diligence in corporate and real estate transactions, and his commercial property law practice extends to advising major companies on disposals, acquisitions, lettings, and options and on general landlord and tenant matters. Chris has acted for established companies in the sectors of waste management, minerals and building materials, automotive, and chemicals and for property developers and investors.
Chris is a council member of the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) and a member of the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association. He is a regular contributor to the EIC Contaminated Land Working Group.
