Andrew Barker represents investment banks, commercial banks, private equity funds, hedge funds, mezzanine lenders, and corporate borrowers on a wide variety of transactions, with a particular focus on domestic and cross-border debt and structured finance.
He has particular experience in the area of real estate finance and has advised on a number of high-profile transactions including Delancey and AREA's recent public bid for Minerva plc as well as Signature Capital's acquisition of the Neumarkt in Cologne out of German insolvency proceedings.
His real estate practice encompasses investment loans, development loans, warehouse loans, and CMBS as well as privately placed notes, mezzanine lending, and various shari'ah compliant products. He also has acted on a number of highly innovative distressed real estate transactions for both private equity investors and investment banks and has structured trades of distressed commercial loans and NPLs.
Outside of the real estate sector he represents clients on a variety of financing transactions in sectors including telecoms, media, natural resources, aviation, and health care, in both developed and emerging markets.
Clients which Andrew represents include AREA Property Partners, Babson Capital, CBRE Investors, Delancey, Goldman Sachs, Goodman Industrial Trust, Macquarie, MSREF, RREEF, and TPG Credit.
Andrew lectures on various aspects of banking and finance law and has published a number of papers including on debt buybacks and structuring NPL transactions.
