Theresa Coughlin is an experienced litigator who has represented clients across a broad range of complex matters including antitrust litigation, commercial arbitration, and contractual disputes. She has extensive experience with class action lawsuits and multidistrict litigation. Theresa has represented multinational companies under investigation by the United States Department of Justice and international competition authorities related to allegations of bid-rigging, price-fixing, and market allocation and continued her representation in related civil litigation. She also has experience defending companies in investigations and lawsuits brought by state attorneys general.

Theresa has defended clients in Department of Justice challenges to proposed acquisitions. She defended Electrolux Corporation at trial regarding the Department of Justice's challenge to the proposed acquisition of General Electric's appliance business.

Theresa counsels clients on electronic discovery strategy and legal requirements including litigation holds, cost and timing considerations, ethics, spoliation, social media, predictive coding, and search terms. She also provides related CLE programs to colleagues, both internally and externally, and assists with electronic discovery counseling.

Theresa is a member of the Washington Office's Recruiting Committee. She is also committed to pro bono service and currently serves as a member of D.C.'s Children's Law Center's advisory board. Most recently, Theresa successfully secured third-party custody for a client from D.C. Superior Court.
