Tax Credit Transactions

Jones Day has an extensive practice in the affordable housing, historic rehabilitation, and community development areas, representing both capital providers and development sponsors for tax credit projects located throughout the United States. We have helped finance a diverse range of projects, including charter schools, theaters, mixed use projects, hotels, and community centers. More recently Jones Day has advised investors, project sponsors and fund managers with respect to a wide array of issues related to opportunity zones, including tax, securities, regulatory, and structuring matters. 

Our attorneys represent major institutional investors, syndicators, developers, local governments, community development entities (CDEs), and nonprofit organizations in all aspects of tax credit project development, including acquisition, finance, operations, construction, disposition, repositioning to affordable use, and workouts. We have extensive experience with the wide array of financing available for community development efforts, including state and federal low-income housing, new markets, energy and historic tax credits, as well as non-tax credit programs such as tax-exempt bonds, HUD-supported loans, and financing through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
