Mark Belasic is an aggressive trial lawyer who has been trying high-stakes products liability cases around the country for many years. Since the 1980s, he has represented R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in several hundred cases and has tried more than 20 cases to verdict as lead counsel. He also has years of experience defending a variety of class actions, has defeated class certification in several dozen cases, and won a defense verdict in one of the largest medical monitoring class actions ever tried.

Mark was lead trial counsel for R.J. Reynolds in a multiyear class action trial in New Orleans in which defendants won a defense verdict on a $12 billion medical monitoring claim. He has tried many wrongful death cases in state and federal courts, including a lung cancer case in federal court in Seattle in which the jury took only one hour to reach a defense verdict and an emphysema case in rural Florida in which he won a defense verdict even when medical causation was conceded. He has broad experience in working with scores of different scientific and medical expert witnesses and communicating complex issues to juries in ways that are understandable and appealing to lay people.

Mark is a member of the Ohio and Cleveland Bar Associations. He is an author of the Ohio tort law chapter in Tort Law Desk Reference: A Fifty-State Compendium.
