Jones Day names Yvette McGee Brown to lead Firmwide Diversity, Inclusion & Advancement

Washington, DC - The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Yvette McGee Brown, a partner in the Firm's Columbus Office, has been named Partner-in-Charge, Diversity, Inclusion & Advancement. The first African-American woman to serve on the Ohio State Supreme Court, she will coordinate diversity initiatives of Jones Day's individual offices and manage its activities all around the world.

A member of the Business and Tort Litigation (USA) Practice, Ms. McGee Brown represents clients in complex litigation and appellate matters, including insurance coverage issues, employment litigation and investigations involving executive officers, and government/regulatory matters.

She began her career as a litigator in the Ohio Attorney General's Office and in 1992 was the first African American woman elected to the Franklin County Common Pleas court. She served on the court for nine years before resigning to accept an executive position at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Ms. McGee Brown is an active business and community leader. She has served on the board of directors for M/I Homes, Glimcher Realty, Motorist Insurance, Ohio University, the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. She is the former chair of The Ohio State University Alumni Association, United Way of Central Ohio, and the YWCA Columbus Board of Directors. She was inducted into the Central Ohio Business Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame in 2008. Ms. McGee Brown joined Jones Day in 2013. She earned her J.D. from The Ohio State University, and her B.S. from Ohio University.
