Ira Handa has worked on a variety of labor and employment matters involving discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, incentive compensation, restrictive covenants, and employment policies and practices. She defends employers in class action and single plaintiff matters and administrative charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and other state agencies. She has experience training employees on anti-harassment policies and conducting workplace investigations.

Her practice also includes counseling clients on a wide range of matters including litigation avoidance, performance management, employment-related agreements and reductions in force, and employers' handbooks and policies. Ira has experience with federal, state, and local labor and employment statutes, including the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hour statutes, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and state and local laws.

Ira maintains an active pro bono practice. She provides counseling to nonprofit organizations on employment practices. She also represents clients in immigration and family court proceedings and was a member of the trial team successfully representing a Honduran child seeking protected status in the United States.

Ira's note, "Fallacies in the Current Methods of Prosecuting International Commercial Bribery" was published in the Cardozo Law Review. Before joining Jones Day, Ira worked in the compliance industry where she helped businesses apply for licenses and permits. She also has worked as an attorney in India where she handled trademark prosecutions and licensing transactional matters.
