George Phillips is a patent attorney with experience preparing hundreds of freedom to operate opinions and patent applications related to biomedical and mechanical devices. He manages a number of global patent portfolios and regularly counsels clients on post-grant issues including patent invalidity and noninfringement. He also has experience advising on intellectual property aspects of corporate transactions including portfolio analysis, market clearance, licensing, and other technology aspects of M&A transactions.

George has extensive technical knowledge handling matters related to medical and automotive technology. He advised Cardinal Health on intellectual property issues related to its acquisition of Johnson & Johnson's Cordis business, a global manufacturer of medical devices. He has prepared invalidity contentions in defense of a patent infringement action regarding stent technology. He also manages a number of worldwide patent portfolios in the autonomous vehicle, biomedical, and petroleum industries including preparation and prosecution of patent applications.

Prior to joining Jones Day, George worked for two years at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a patent examiner where he handled medical device patent applications.
