Pathways to Law Program, a supplemental learning program for Houston students, kicks off the 2018-2019 school year at Pilgrim Academy and Oak Forest Elementary

Jones Day Houston lawyers are partnering with lawyers from Chevron in the Pathways to Law Program, a supplemental learning program for students in Houston. This year, the program includes eighth grade students at Pilgrim Academy as well as fifth grade students at Oak Forest Elementary, both Houston ISD schools. Teams of four to five lawyers meet weekly with students during a regular class period or on various field trips, in which they encourage professionalism, teach about the First or Fourth Amendment, and facilitate public speaking experiences for the students. Most importantly, the program is designed to increase the students’ self-confidence and spark an interest in legal or other professional careers.

Pathways to Law was originally developed by Jones Day Houston lawyers as an after-school program in Fall 2013 and has expanded to a full-year program held during regular school hours, with over forty Jones Day and Chevron participants.
