Verizon Corporate Services wins decision from Fourth Circuit fully vacating award in labor arbitration dispute

Represented the employer in a labor arbitration disputing the assignment of work. The arbitrator issued an award against Verizon Corporate Services Corporation, which the employer appealed to federal district court. Jones Day briefed and argued the appeal, which resulted in a decision fully vacating the arbitration award. The Communications Workers of America appealed the decision to the United States Court of Appeals to the Fourth Circuit. Adopting Jones Day's argument, the Fourth Circuit affirmed, concluding that the matter presented "archetypal" grounds for vacatur.
