Clients High School Law Day
On April 15, the Silicon Valley Office co-hosted the Sixth Annual High School Law Day with Chief Judge James Ware of the Northern District of California. This year's event involved over 100 participants, including the Honorable Paul S. Grewal, and several Assistant U.S. Attorneys, Assistant Federal Public Defenders, Deputy U.S. Marshals, and over 70 high school students from Sacramento New Technology High School.
The Northern District's Law Day event is an interactive program for under-privileged high school students designed to introduce students to the possibility of a career in the legal profession. The program includes live lessons at the students' school in Sacramento as well as a day-long program at the San Jose Federal Courthouse, including a mock arraignment, coaching the students through mock trials, and presentations on legal careers and our legal system. This year's Law Day program was run by Behrooz Shariati, Mahlet Getachew, Patricia Campbell, Michael Klepich and Jessica Richardson, all of the Silicon Valley Office. Acting as mentors and coaches to the students for this year's Law Day were David Pauling, Kwan Chan, Peter Nestor, Heather Fugitt, Katie Lynott and Deborah Hedley, also of the Silicon Valley Office.
