Porges defeats wrongful termination suit

Clients Porges SAS

Jones Day represented Porges in a wrongful termination action in which the plaintiff, Mr. Klosen, alleged that he was dismissed in April 2005 for economic motive. The plaintiff claimed additional damages based on the contention that he was dismissed at the age of 54, which made it impossible for him to find a new job. The plaintiff asked for the payment of his salary until his retirement age, as well as compensation for the reduction of his retirement pension due to his unemployment. A trial was held and the judgment was rendered in favor of Porges, denying all of the plaintiff's claims. The plaintiff has appealed this decision to the Court of Appeals of Bordeaux, France.
