Foster parents adopt neglected triplets

Clients Burrs Family, The

Jones Day associates successfully represented long-time therapeutic foster parents, the Burrs, in their adoption of 10 year old triplets in DC Superior Court. The Burrs had already raised five children of their own (and have cared for over 25 foster children) and had been pursuing adoption of the triplets since becoming their foster parents in 2007. The children, two boys and one girl, had been in the DC neglect system since early childhood and found a permanent and loving family in the Burrs. Following an evidentiary hearing and the Court's conclusion that it would be in the children's best interests to be adopted by the Burrs, the new family celebrated the finalization of the adoption with a public ceremony in DC Superior Court on National Adoption Day. The case was taken on referral from the Children's Law Center.
