Foreign Policy negotiates first labor contract with News Guild

Clients Graham Holdings Company

Jones Day negotiated Foreign Policy’s ("FP") first labor contract with the News Guild, reaching an agreement that covers FP’s editorial staff. The negotiations, which lasted about a year, resulted in a contract that broadly preserves FP’s ability to exercise its management, editorial and operational discretion without Guild challenge through arbitrations or mid-term bargaining demands. It also preserves FP’s discretion to make mid-term benefit plan changes and pay performance-based merit increases.
