Asylum granted to Guatemalan mother and her four children

Clients A.P.

Jones Day client A.P. and her four children escaped Guatemala in 2015, fleeing gang violence and domestic violence. They fled to the U.S. border and requested asylum. Jones Day submitted a defensive asylum application on behalf of A.P. and her children in January 2016 and represented her at her trial before the Immigration Judge in March 2017. The Immigration Judge granted A.P. and her children asylum on April 28, 2017 and the government waived all rights to appeal.
