Wife and children of man kidnapped for refusing to join gang wins asylum

Clients Client

Members of a criminal gang kidnapped client's husband at gunpoint, late at night in their home, after he refused repeated demands that he join the gang. The kidnappers threatened client that if she told anyone or reported the crime to the police, they would kill her. Client fled with her three children to the U.S. border, where she requested asylum. The U.S. Immigration Court ruled that she and her children were entitled to asylum on the ground that she had suffered persecution on account of her family relationship.
