General Cable successfully defends against discrimination allegations

Clients General Cable Corporation

Jones Day successfully defended client General Cable Corporation against allegations of discrimination filed by a current employee at the company's DuQuoin, IL plant. The employee filed charges with the Illinois Department of Human Rights and the EEOC alleging discrimination based on sex, race, religion and sexual orientation. The allegations center around plaintiff being referred for a drug test following a fork truck accident, and alleged harassment by the plant manager and manufacturing manager, as well as an additional allegation of unspecified retaliation by the plant manager. The IDHR dismissed these allegations following a finding of no merit. The EEOC adopted this finding on April 11, 2016.
