Hypercom defeats patent infringement claims

Jones Day represented VeriFone Systems, Inc., VeriFone, Inc., and Hypercom Corporation in a patent case in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The case was tried in June 2012. The plaintiffs claimed damages of $100 million. The jury found infringement but not willful infringement and awarded $15 million. On appeal, the Federal Circuit reversed and rendered judgment for VeriFone and Hypercom, nullifying the $15 million award amount.
