Cert petition filed by Jones Day selected as the SCOTUSblog Petition of the Day

Clients Edwards, George H., Jr.

Jones Day represented George H. Edwards, Jr., in his appeal from a federal court that affirmed a ruling of the United States Parole Commission causing him to automatically forfeit his "street time" on parole when he pleaded guilty to a new offense. When Edwards lost his appeal, Jones Day petitioned to the Supreme Court, noting that the appeals court had created and exacerbated legal conflicts with other courts. After the Supreme Court called for a response from the government on the worthiness of the petition, and Jones Day filed its reply, the Court-watching website SCOTUSblog featured the case as its "Petition of the Day" on March 4, 2013.
