Woodward obtains summary judgment on Title VII national origin discrimination pay and promotion claims

Jones Day obtained summary judgment on behalf of its client, Woodward, Inc., on plaintiff's claims of national origin discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. A Woodward member sued alleging that she was paid less than similarly situated non-Mexican employees and discriminated against in the terms and conditions of her employment. The Court disagreed, finding that plaintiff's pay claim was beyond the scope of her EEOC charge and lacked merit, plaintiff's allegations concerning her performance assessments did not constitute adverse actions for purposes of Title VII, and legitimate, nondiscriminatory reasons motivated Woodward's employment actions.
