R.J. Reynolds prevails on medical monitoring claims at trial

Following a multiyear trial of a class action in New Orleans, Jones Day client R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company won a defense verdict on a $12 billion medical monitoring claim in a venue long recognized as one of the most hostile to corporate defendants. The case is currently on appeal before the Louisiana Court of Appeals.
