Jones Day Dallas Issues and Appeals lawyers successfully press prisoner's civil rights claim in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit

Clients Slice, Faye Elise

A Jones Day Dallas team of lawyers led by Andrew Wirmani, and including Mike Correll and David Horan, secured a unanimous victory before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In a decision released August 25, 2011, the Court of Appeals reversed the district court's adverse summary judgment ruling and remanded Ms. Slice's section 1983 claim to the district court for further proceedings. The appeal arose from retaliation that prisoner Faye Slice endured at the hands of the Montana state prison system after she successfully challenged the state's disparate provision of services, opportunities, and administrative systems for male and female prisoners.
