Client secures full custody of her two children

Clients Ms. G

On February 24, 2010, on only a few days' notice, Jones Day New York associates Maxim Price and Nicholas Ahuja appeared in Bronx Family Court on behalf of a mother of two children for a custody and visitation proceeding. The client was seeking full custody of both her children while the father demanded joint custody. The father was not represented by counsel at this first conference and everyone agreed to adjourn and continue negotiations. After this, communications between our client and the father broke down and with them any possibility for an agreement. At the next scheduled conference, the father was represented by counsel. What ensued was a series of many back-and-forths and one long negotiation session that included the law guardian and some very heated words. In the end, full custody was successfully secured for their client with standard language protecting the father's rights to visitation and to be an active participant of the children's lives without going to trial.

The matter was referred to Jones Day by inMotion.
