Genentech and Roche resolve patent interference against Japan Foundation for Cancer Research

Jones Day represented Genentech, Inc. and its licensee Hoffman-La Roche, Inc. in a patent interference against Japan Foundation for Cancer Research. The interferences involved the parties' applications/patents relating to methods and DNA technologies for the bacterial production of human fibroblast beta interferon, and the recombinant interferon product of those methods. A consolidated oral hearing was held on October 10, 2007 and final judgment was entered in each interference on September 29, 2008. The cases went before the Federal Circuit.
