Asylum granted for Ethiopian victim of political oppression

Client(s) Client UB

Our client was an Ethiopian dissident who fled for the United States earlier this year; he had been arrested multiple times, at first by authorities who thought they could find a family member by torturing him. Later, he was arrested because of his own political activities. He was detained for increasingly longer periods, and was beaten and tortured each time. Jones Day submitted the client's affirmative application for asylum, which was granted on August 25, 2010.
