Great aunt and uncle obtain permanent guardianship of a niece and two nephews
Clients Client G
Jones Day associates successfully represented the G's in their pursuit of permanent guardianship of their great niece and two great nephews. The G's cared for the children, who range in age from three to eight years old, since learning that the children were adjudicated neglected and placed in the DC foster care system. Following an evidentiary hearing, the Court determined that it was in the children's best interest to remain permanently with the G's (who had previously obtained guardianship of their older sibling). The children are now able to remain together and have a safe and permanent home and loving extended family. This case was taken on referral from the Children's Law Center.
