Nevamar settles long-running patent infringement dispute involving decorative laminates for countertops
Clients Nevamar Corporation
Jones Day represented Nevamar Corporation, a manufacturer of laminate used on countertops, in a long-running patent infringement dispute involving static-dissipating high-pressure decorative laminates. The action was initially brought in the District Court for the District of Maryland, which entered a finding of noninfringement by Nevamar after an 11-day trial. In an unpublished opinion, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reversed and returned the case to the District of Maryland for further proceedings. The case subsequently settled in March 2006 on mutually agreeable terms.
