Cleveland Clinic Foundation develops on-line personal health record system with Google

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation asked Jones Day to assist them in constructing a pilot project to link the health information for 10,000 of its patients with Google personal health records. Because a large amount of patients are retirees and typically travel frequently, the project will allow their personal health records to travel with them. The ultimate goal is to allow a patient to interact with various physicians, healthcare providers and pharmacies by accessing the patient's medical information from a Google personal health record via secure Web pages. The information to be revealed will be decided by the patient. In effect, this is a patient-controlled health record.
