Timothy Mann, Jr. returns to Jones Day as partner in M&A Practice in Atlanta
Timothy Mann, Jr. has rejoined the Firm as a partner in the M&A Practice, based in Atlanta.
Mr. Mann has a diverse background that combines legal practice with hands-on business leadership and investment experience. He has served as executive vice president and general counsel of the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, and prior to that he was president and chief executive officer of Axiall Corporation. He joined Axiall after a six-year tenure at Jones Day, where he was a partner in the M&A Practice, based in Atlanta and Pittsburgh. Most recently, he was executive managing director of the Arnold Palmer Group, which comprises the business and philanthropic interests of the late Arnold and Winnie Palmer.
In his return to Jones Day, Mr. Mann joins a practice that has advised clients on more than 3,000 M&A transactions in the last five years—collectively valued at $1.5 trillion. He will focus primarily on public and private M&A and corporate governance, including general corporate counseling.
"Tim has a valuable perspective as both a highly skilled M&A lawyer and an accomplished corporate executive," said James Dougherty, leader of Jones Day's M&A Practice, which includes more than 400 lawyers across 17 countries. "This professional background gives him a level of insight that will be a tremendous asset to our clients as they seek to enter into a variety of corporate transactions. We are delighted that he has rejoined Jones Day."
Prior to his first stint at Jones Day, Mr. Mann was the founder and CEO of a business services company that completed more than 10 acquisitions and a successful IPO, served as the interim general counsel for two multibillion-dollar public manufacturing companies, and was a general partner in an Atlanta and Zurich-based venture capital fund.
"Tim's return to Jones Day adds even more depth to our strong group of M&A lawyers here in Atlanta," said Al LaFiandra, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Atlanta Office. "His background as an entrepreneur, CEO with investment experience, and general counsel provides him with a well-rounded perspective that is extremely valuable to clients, and I'm pleased to welcome him back to Jones Day and to our team here in Atlanta."
Mr. Mann earned his law degree from the University of Georgia and his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida.
