Four Jones Day partners named to The Best Lawyers in Italy™ 2023 list
The 2023 edition of The Best Lawyers in Italy™ has recognized Paolo Foppiani, Marco Lombardi, Francesco Squerzoni, and Vinicio Trombetti, all partners in the Firm's Milan Office, in its annual list. Mr. Foppiani was recognized in the Real Estate Law category, Mr. Lombardi was recognized in the Tax Law category, and Messrs. Squerzoni and Trombetti were recognized in the Banking and Finance Law category.
Mr. Foppiani has an extensive track record advising Italian and international institutional investors in domestic and cross-border real estate transactions involving stand-alone deals as well as portfolio holdings. He has significant experience in the purchase, sale, letting, and development of real estate assets, going concerns, and transactions involving the contribution of assets into real estate funds and in the formation of real estate joint ventures. He also focuses on alternative asset classes, mainly in the healthcare sector.
Mr. Lombardi is Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Milan Office. He has provided counsel to clients on the corporate and tax aspects of international transactions for more than 25 years, and advises on an array of transactions, including structured finance, cross-border financings, M&A, private equity, fund formation, and financial real estate.
Mr. Squerzoni advises lenders and borrowers in investment and development projects in acquisition and real estate financings. He also works for originators, arrangers, and investors in structured finance transactions, including public and private securitizations, domestic and multijurisdictional trade finance, and acquisitions of nonperforming loan portfolios (NPLs). In addition, Mr. Squerzoni's experience includes project finance matters in relation to energy and infrastructure projects as well as debt restructurings.
Mr. Trombetti's practice is concentrated on banking, capital markets, and structured finance, with particular experience in securitizations, covered bonds, debt capital markets (DCMs), and portfolio acquisitions. He is experienced in structured finance transactions involving different asset classes, including consumer and auto loans, salary secured loans (CQS), small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) loans, leasing, NPLs, and trade receivables.
