Erika Whyte selected for the Daily Business Review's 2022 "On the Rise" list
The Daily Business Review has selected Erika Whyte, a Jones Day associate in the Miami Office, for the 2022 "On the Rise" list of attorneys under 40 as part of the publication's Professional Excellence Awards, which recognize distinguished members of the South Florida legal community. Ms. Whyte received this recognition for her leadership in the legal profession and for her significant contributions to the Firm and community.
The "On the Rise" award honors influential attorneys in South Florida who are "innovators, developing unique practice niches, amassing robust books of business, demonstrating strong leadership qualities, showing expertise in litigation or transactional work, and committing themselves to pro bono, charitable and professional volunteer work."
Ms. Whyte's practice focuses on representing corporate clients in complex civil litigation and government investigations. For more than 10 years, she has advised companies in a range of matters, including individual and multi-state attorney general investigations and litigation, commercial disputes, legal malpractice defense, and defense of actions brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). She has experience in all aspects of litigation, including developing and implementing litigation strategies, managing e-discovery, taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing motions, and participating in trials.
Ms. Whyte is the summer associate assignment coordinator for the Miami Office and devotes time to pro bono matters. She served as first chair in a successful final hearing that resulted in a grant of asylum to a Guatemalan family fleeing gang persecution. She also has served as a pro bono lawyer for teenage girls involved in dependency cases in Miami-Dade Circuit Court's Juvenile Division.
