Julie McEvoy and Yizhe Zhang named among GCR's Women in Antitrust 2021

Julie McEvoy and Yizhe Zhang, partners in Jones Day's Antitrust & Competition Law Practice, have been named to the Global Competition Review (GCR) Women in Antitrust 2021 list.

In the sixth edition of its Women in Antitrust list, GCR honors 130 private practitioners, enforcers, in-house counsel, economists, and academics who deserve recognition for their standout careers in antitrust law and economics.

Ms. McEvoy, resident in Jones Day's Washington Office, is a trusted advisor in antitrust and litigation matters involving private litigants as well as government agencies. She defends clients against civil claims arising from the alleged misuse of patents, regulatory processes, and private pricing agreements. She also has extensive experience in criminal antitrust matters, conducting and resolving investigations and defending follow-on civil litigation.

During the Obama Administration, Ms. McEvoy served as Deputy Associate Attorney General, counseling Department of Justice principals on significant matters and leading various interagency initiatives. She oversaw the Antitrust Division and participated in formulating policies and strategies for investigating, litigating, and resolving civil and criminal antitrust cases. Ms. McEvoy also advised Administration officials on immigration issues; directed the President's Task Force on Puerto Rico; and spearheaded legislative, policy, and social justice projects.

Ms. Zhang, resident in Jones Day's Beijing and San Francisco offices, has extensive experience with complex antitrust and competition law issues. She represents clients in merger reviews, antitrust government investigations and enforcement actions, antitrust counseling and compliance, and private antitrust litigation. She has helped clients successfully obtain China antitrust approvals in high profile transactions.

Before joining Jones Day, Ms. Zhang worked for China's Anti-Monopoly Office of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and was heavily involved in the drafting of the PRC Anti-Monopoly Law and other regulations for foreign mergers and acquisitions.

GCR also recognized Ms. McEvoy and Ms. Zhang in the fifth edition of Women in Antitrust, which was published in 2016.
