IBLJ recognizes Jones Day among top 15 foreign firms in India

For the 13th consecutive year, India Business Law Journal (IBLJ) has named Jones Day among the top 15 foreign firms advising on legal matters in India. The leading foreign firms report is based on IBLJ's analysis of more than 600 law firms that have been engaged in transactions and disputes with an Indian component in the previous 12 month period.

Jones Day has served the Indian market for more than 25 years. The Firm's India practice is coordinated from Singapore and includes more than 60 lawyers—many of whom were educated in India or have worked in prominent Indian law firms—with qualifications spanning more than a dozen jurisdictions. The Firm has represented domestic and international corporations, financial institutions, investors, multilateral development banks, and government entities on many notable transactions and investments in India and on India-related deals around the world.

In their report, IBLJ noted the Firm's strength in banking and finance, energy and projects, M&A, private equity, and disputes and investigations. Deals highlighted in the report include the Firm's representation of UPL Limited in a US$500 million sustainability-linked loan with a US$250 million greenshoe option, and advising OYO in a joint venture with SoftBank Group to manage its Latin American hotels business. In addition, Sushma Jobanputra and Karthik Kumar have again been listed in the 2021 edition of IBLJ's "International A-List," a list of the 100 top India-focused lawyers from outside the country.

IBLJ provides intelligence on legal developments and strategies to India-based and international businesses and law firms engaged in cross-border transactions.
