Women and Trade: A promising interface for gender equality

On March 8, 2021, Eva Monard, a partner in Jones Day's Government Regulation Practice resident in Brussels, participated in "Women and Trade: A promising interface for gender equality," a panel discussion addressing the role of trade in promoting gender equality. The event, organized to commemorate International Women’s Day, was hosted by CEPS, a leading think tank and forum for debate on EU affairs.

The conversation was inspired by three recent publications: "Women and Trade: The Role of Trade in Promoting Gender Equality," a joint report by the World Bank and the World Trade Organization; the UNCTAD's "Trade and Gender Toolbox;" and "From Europe to the World: Understanding challenges for European businesswomen," the European Commission's study with the International Trade Centre (ITC).

Other speakers included Roberta Piermartini, Chief of Trade Costs Analysis, World Trade Organization, and Simonetta Zarrilli, Chief of the Trade, Gender and Development Programme, UNCTAD.
