Jones Day partner Dr. Niv Tadmore named Chair of the International Fiscal Association global Supervisory Board

Dr. Niv Tadmore, a partner in Jones Day's global Tax Practice based in Melbourne, has been named the first Chair of the global Supervisory Board of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). The key role of IFA's newly-established body is to supervise and advise IFA's Executive Board.

The appointment was made March 3, 2021, at the IFA General Council & General Assembly meeting.

"I am honored to be the first chair of the IFA Supervisory Board," said Dr. Tadmore. "I look forward to serving in this leadership position with board members from around the world, guiding and shaping the strategy and direction of this truly global tax association.

"International tax is more dynamic and important than ever. This is driven by fundamental change in international business models and thinking, and unprecedented global cooperation among governments. For many decades, IFA has had a leading global role in bringing people and ideas together, in studying and developing international taxation, and in contributing knowledge and insights across many countries. I trust that going forward IFA will play an even greater leading role in this fast-evolving international business and tax environment."

Dr. Tadmore was previously a global vice president of IFA, and is president of the Australian Branch. He has served as a member of the Australian Taxation Office's Large Business Stewardship Group, Dispute Resolution Working Group, the transfer pricing APA Working Group, and the Australian Federal Treasury's BEPS Group. He is also a member of the New York University International Tax Program Practice Council and the Melbourne University Tax Group Advisory Board.

IFA, established in The Hague, Netherlands in 1938, is the largest tax association in the world, with more than 13,000 members and branches in 71 countries. Members come from 115 countries. The diverse membership includes judges, revenue officials, treasury officials, international bodies, private sector lawyers, accountants, and heads of tax in domestic and global businesses.

"Niv's depth of experience with complex tax dispute resolution for both domestic and international clients, as well as his command of a diverse range of areas from international taxation to private equity investments and business restructuring, make this a well-deserved global appointment," said Joseph A. Goldman, co-leader of Jones Day's Tax Practice. "International tax policy is undergoing rapid, fundamental changes, and Niv is an ideal choice to supervise and advise IFA."

Dr. Tadmore is the first Australian to hold a global leadership role with IFA.

"Niv has always brought a deep understanding of global tax issues to our clients, and his appointment as the first Chair of the Supervisory Board of the International Fiscal Association is testament to the high regard in which he is held by his global peers," said Tim L'Estrange, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Melbourne Office.
