Cheryl L. O’Connor elected to the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation

Cheryl L. O'Connor, a partner in Jones Day's Business & Tort Litigation Practice resident in the Irvine Office, has been elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF). Membership is limited to just one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. Members are nominated by their peers and selected by the ABF Board.

The ABF Fellows is a global honorary society that recognizes attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and to the welfare of their communities. ABF Fellows hail from nearly 40 countries and hold a wide variety of influential roles.

Ms. O'Connor is an accomplished, first-chair trial lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in high-stakes litigation, both civil and criminal. She represents companies and executives in cases involving trade secrets and economic espionage, unfair competition, False Claims Act, and consumer class actions. Ms. O'Connor is equally skilled as an appellate advocate, and has argued before the Ninth Circuit more than a dozen times. Prior to joining Jones Day, Cheryl served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California, where she was the Deputy Chief of the Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section.

Ms. O'Connor is active in the legal and civic community. She serves as a Lawyer Representative for the Central District of California, co-chair of the Women in White Collar Defense Association (Los Angeles Chapter), and member of the Board of Directors for Project Youth-OCBF, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping Orange County's at-risk youth in school, healthy, and drug-free.
