Jones Day ranked among world’s leading cyber and data protection firms in Global Data Review’s GDR 100

Jones Day has been named among 20 "Elite" firms in Global Data Review's (GDR's) inaugural edition of the GDR 100, which identifies and profiles the world's best data law firms. The "Elite" ranking is the highest level awarded by GDR.

GDR's 20 Elite firms are those that deliver cutting-edge advice to household name clients worldwide. Elite firms have a broad international presence, rather than focusing on a single jurisdiction. They also have a track record of consistently handling significant global matters for high-profile clients.

In its citation for Jones Day, the editors at GDR note:

Big-hitter Jones Day takes a multidisciplinary approach to its data offering, drawing on expertise from its transactions, compliance and strategic counseling, cyber-incident response, regulatory investigations, and litigation practices to provide well-rounded and pragmatic data advice.

The firm looks to take a proactive approach to data issues – helping clients get ahead of problems before they occur in a fast-moving legislative and regulatory environment.

Jones Day's global reach helps too. With expertise and offices across the globe, the firm is well-placed to handle data breaches that span multiple data protection regimes – and all the regulatory burdens that such an incident entails. Its international approach, combined with lawyers experienced in advising clients in a multitude of sectors, means there are few data issues the firm can't tackle.

"We believe this recognition reflects the exceptional talent of our lawyers in the cyber and data security field," said Dan McLoon, Co-Practice Leader for Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection. "We are delighted in GDR's 'Elite' firm ranking, and wider market acknowledgement of our lawyers' dedication and hard work on complex cross-border matters," added Lisa Ropple, Co-Practice Leader for Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection.

GDR 100 rankings are based on in-depth submissions submitted by law firms and recommendations from clients and peers in the cyber and data security industry.

Established in 2018, GDR analyzes the law and regulation of the use and trade of data around the world. It is published by Law Business Research, which also publishes Global Arbitration Review and Global Competition Review, among other titles.
