Jones Day's Wendy Butler and Mike Rossman elected Fellows of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers
Wendy Butler and Mike Rossman, partners in Jones Day's Labor & Employment Practice, resident in the Firm's New York and Chicago offices, respectively, have been elected Fellows of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. They were inducted during the College's 25th annual induction ceremony, which took place virtually on November 14, 2020.
Election as a Fellow is the highest recognition by a labor and employment lawyer's colleagues of sustained outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication, and excellence. The College is a prestigious national organization whose membership is limited to attorneys who demonstrate the highest professional qualifications and ethical standards based on the College's principles of civility and professionalism. With the induction of Ms. Butler and Mr. Rossman, Jones Day currently has 13 active lawyers who have been elected Fellows of the College.

Ms. Butler has more than 20 years of experience defending employment-related litigation and advising employers on legal compliance. Her litigation experience includes the defense of class and individual claims arising under the FLSA, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, Title VII, ERISA, and numerous state laws. She counsels clients on a variety of employment issues, including human resources policies, litigation avoidance, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, reductions in force, wage/hour audits and compliance, internal investigations, and issues that arise in connection with corporate transactions. Ms. Butler has written and spoken on a variety of topics, including wage and hour laws, sexual harassment claims and prevention practices, whistleblower and discrimination litigation, and the defense and settlement of class actions.
Mr. Rossman focuses on collective bargaining, litigation, arbitration, strikes and picketing disputes, corporate campaigns, and representation proceedings arising under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). In addition, he has defended multiple companies in class actions and other complex, multiparty litigation involving claims under the FLSA, ERISA, USERRA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, and numerous state laws. He has extensive experience in the defense of clients facing employment class actions across multiple jurisdictions, as well as clients facing joint employer or single employer claims in civil and agency proceedings. He counsels clients across a broad spectrum of employment law and litigation-avoidance topics. Mr. Rossman has filed multiple amicus briefs on behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business organizations in Supreme Court and appellate court cases raising high-profile issues impacting the business community.
