Jones Day's Ka-on Li and Tamera Weisser listed among California's Top Women Lawyers by the Daily Journal

Ka-on Li and Tamera Weisser, partners in Jones Day's Intellectual Property Practice resident in Silicon Valley and San Diego, respectively, have been named to the Daily Journal's list of "Top Women Lawyers in California" for 2020. Editors of the Daily Journal chose the honorees based on the impact of their work and its regional or national implications.

Ms. Li is an experienced intellectual property and technology lawyer whose practice focuses on commercial and licensing transactions. She works closely with clients to successfully design, structure, and execute transactions to achieve high-stakes business objectives in technology driven, biotechnology and life science industries. Ms. Li advises both customers and service providers in strategic front-end and back-end contracting involving outsourcing, licensing, IP commercialization, joint development, distribution arrangements, software and cloud-related matters, infrastructure and telecommunications projects, and manufacturing and supply services. The Daily Journal previously recognized Ms. Li by including her in its "40 Under 40" list for 2020. Law360 named her a "Rising Star" in technology, and Silicon Valley Business Journal included her on its "40 Under 40" and "Women of Influence" lists.

Dr. Weisser leverages more than 20 years of experience in global patent portfolio development, management, and enforcement to protect biotechnology clients’ commercially important and cutting-edge innovations. She has particular experience in the areas of life-saving antibody immunotherapeutics and other protein-based biologic drugs, cell-based therapies, as well as biomarker diagnostics for use in personalized medicine. She also has a successful track record in inter partes review proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board, which has become the forum of choice for biosimilar (generic) companies to challenge innovator patents. Her practice also includes performing patent validity and freedom-to-operate analyses and conducting due diligence of patent portfolios for clients, including potential investors, acquirers, and licensees. Dr. Weisser serves as administrative partner for the Firm's San Diego Office and is a member of BIOCOM's board of governors. This is her third appearance on the Daily Journal's Top Women Lawyers list; she also was previously included among their "Top Intellectual Property Lawyers." Her other accolades include The National Law Journal's "IP Trailblazers" list.
