Three Jones Day partners again named among "Latin America: Top 100 Female Lawyers” by Latinvex

Jones Day's Maria Luisa Canovas, Silvia Malagón, and Fradyn Suárez are named among the "Top 100 Female Lawyers Specializing in Latin America," by the editorial staff of Latinvex.

The publication's eighth-annual ranking, initially the "Top 50" at its inception in 2012, reviewed nearly 100 law firms and selected 100 lawyers from 61 different firms based in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Cayman Islands, and British Virgin Islands. The selection criteria included a lawyer's recent track record on major transactions, a firm's prominence in Latin America, and recognition by third parties such as Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500.

Based in Jones Day's New York Office, Ms. Canovas has more than 20 years of experience advising clients on complex cross-border M&A transactions in Latin America and the United States. She has worked on deals in, among others, the energy, infrastructure, pharma, and hospitality sectors. Ms. Canovas has been named to the Latinvex "Top 100" since 2012.

Ms. Malagón advises companies in corporate law related to capital markets, mutual and pension funds, and Mexican banks and brokerage firms. Working primarily from Jones Day's Mexico City Office, she has actively participated in the establishment of Mexican affiliates of international fund managers and mutual funds in obtaining authorization before the National Banking and Securities Commission. Ms. Malagón has been named to the Latinvex "Top 100" since 2012.

Ms. Suárez has more than 18 years of experience advising clients with respect to complex financings and restructurings in the region. A New York-qualifiedlawyer based in the Firm’s Miami Office, she co-coordinates Jones Day’s global project finance team, regularly advising financial institutions and other capital providers and sponsor groups in connection with P3s and project and related financings across a variety of sectors, including social and transportation infrastructure, renewable energy, hospitality, and telecommunications.
