Jones Day's Shay Dvoretzky and Alexis Gilroy are among Law360's 2020 MVPs

The legal news and analysis service Law360 has chosen Jones Day partners Shay Dvoretzky and Alexis Gilroy as MVPs for 2020. The MVP awards honor elite attorneys for their successes in high-stakes litigation, significant deals, or complex global matters in the previous year. Law360 will profile Mr. Dvoretzky and Ms. Gilroy in the coming weeks.

Mr. Dvoretzky, a partner in the Firm's Issues & Appeals Practice resident in Washington, D.C., is a Law360 Appellate MVP for the second consecutive year. Among the nation's most active Supreme Court practitioners, he has argued 12 cases in the high Court and dozens more in appellate courts nationwide. His experience includes constitutional law, government regulation, federal preemption, arbitration issues, labor and employment, antitrust, bankruptcy, and complex statutory questions. Mr. Dvoretzky has earned a reputation as an exceptional appellate advocate whose wins change the trajectory of the law. His victories in the past year expanded access to international arbitration by ensuring that international arbitration agreements are treated similarly to domestic ones; protected the ideals of the legal profession by establishing that clients are not property; defeated massive liability under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA); and convinced the Supreme Court, which had reserved judgment on the issue for years, to finally (and resoundingly) reject a discovery rule for federal statutes.

Ms. Gilroy is a partner in the Firm's Health Care & Life Sciences Practice, also resident in Washington. A national leader in the digital health industry, she advises on complex transactional and health regulatory issues with an emphasis on virtual health methods, such as telemedicine, telehealth, and mobile health. Her leadership and industry engagement have helped shape regulatory policy for telemedicine and other emerging health care services, and her longstanding commitment to the telemedicine industry has earned the respect of legal and industry peers, demonstrated by her election this year to the American Telemedicine Association's College of Fellows. This past spring, Ms. Gilroy led a collaboration and crafted information focused on unique federal and state legal, regulatory, and reimbursement structures applicable to telehealth for use with regulatory waivers allowing expansive availability of telehealth during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Her client representations in the past year include assisting with the nationwide expansion of a virtual diabetes clinic and the launch of an innovative revenue cycle management offering focused on telemedicine.
