Jones Day partners Randy Kay and Steven Zadravecz named to Daily Journal's list of Top Trade Secrets Lawyers

Jones Day partners Randy Kay and Steven Zadravecz have been selected by the Daily Journal for inclusion in its second annual list of Top Trade Secrets Lawyers in California.

Mr. Kay, who appears on the Daily Journal's Top Trade Secrets Lawyers list for the second consecutive year, is a partner in Jones Day's Intellectual Property Practice and serves as chair of the Firm's global Trade Secrets practice. He has almost 30 years of experience advising on trade secret disputes, including matters involving cybersecurity and data breaches. He counsels companies on protection of trade secret assets, handles trade secret misappropriation disputes arising from business dealings and departing personnel, and has served as an expert witness on trade secret litigation. He leads the team advising on Micron's international trade secret litigation where he succeeded in obtaining California jurisdiction over the Taiwanese and Chinese defendants whose misappropriation of Micron's technology took place primarily on foreign soil – the first such decision under the Defend Trade Secrets Act. Mr. Kay then repeated the achievement in a DTSA case for a healthcare client who obtained personal jurisdiction in California against defendants who acted primarily from the Middle East.

Mr. Zadravecz, a partner in the Firm's Labor & Employment Practice, has more than 20 years of experience representing employers in matters that include high-stakes trade secret litigation and high profile, defense-side employment litigation issues. Over the past few years, he has achieved substantial and consequential wins for Jones Day clients, including a $15 million verdict following a successful jury trial in a trade secret misappropriation case, and significant and early litigation wins in numerous trade secrets cases, including securing several ex parte, temporary restraining orders against employees who attempted to abscond with trade secrets. Corporate clients turn to Mr. Zadravecz on trade secret matters of significant importance to their business, whether on the plaintiff side to protect valuable assets and prevent unfair competition, or on the defensive side to protect the right to gain fair access to the marketplace and hire talented employees to perform legitimate services.

The Firm is distinguished by: a singular tradition of client service; the mutual commitment to, and the seamless collaboration of, a true partnership; formidable legal talent across multiple disciplines and jurisdictions; and shared professional values that focus on client needs.
